Pear Flapjacks

Golden chewy flapjacks perfect for autumnal afternoons with a nice cuppa. Easy to put together and packed full of goodness

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Spoon
  • 1 small mixing bowl
  • 1 Grater
  • 1 measuring scales
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 9" square baking tin

Ingredients
  

  • 2 pears
  • 240 grams oats
  • 80 grams butter
  • 5 tbsp maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cardamom optional
  • 2 tbsp ground flax and chia seeds optional
  • 4 tbsp mixed seeds pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds etc
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 180C
  • Grease and/or line an 9" cake tin
  • Melt the butter and maple syrup (or honey) in a small bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds/ 1 minute
  • Grate the pears coarsely into a large mixing bowl. Add the oats, seeds, spices and salt and mix well
  • Add the butter mixture and stir to combine well
  • Spoon into the prepared tin and press down the mixture, levelling the top with a spoon
  • Bake for 30 minutes, turning the tin halfway to ensure even browning
  • Leave to cool in the tin before cutting into 12 slices or squares
