Maple Spiced Nuts

This delicious snack is perfect with drinks, as part of a cheeseboard, a protein boosting sprinkle over salads or just as a quick between meal treat

  • 1 Spoon
  • 1 weighing scales
  • 1 Baking Sheet

Ingredients
  

  • 400 grams mixed nuts (walnuts, cashews, pecans, peanuts, almonds)
  • 100 grams pumkin seeds
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic granules

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 165C
  • Line a lipped baking tray with greaseproof paper or a silicone sheet
  • In a large mixing bowl add the nuts and pumpkin seeds
  • In a small bowl combine the maple syrup, butter, salt, vanilla, smoked paprika, oregano and garlic granules
  • Pour the maple syrup and butter mixture over the nuts and seeds and mix well to coat all the nuts
  • Spread the nuts and seeds over the baking tray in a single layer
  • Bake in the oven, stirring after the first 10 minutes and then every 5 minutes until almost no maple syrup remains on the baking sheet and the nuts are deep golden brown
  • Remove from the oven and stir once more then allow to cool. The maple syrup will harden as the nuts cool
  • When cool, store in an airtight container
