Pear Flapjacks
Golden chewy flapjacks perfect for autumnal afternoons with a nice cuppa. Easy to put together and packed full of goodness

1 9" square baking tin
- 2 pears
- 240 grams oats
- 80 grams butter
- 5 tbsp maple syrup (or honey)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground cardamom optional
- 2 tbsp ground flax and chia seeds optional
- 4 tbsp mixed seeds pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds etc
- 1 pinch salt
Preheat oven to 180C
Grease and/or line an 9" cake tin
Melt the butter and maple syrup (or honey) in a small bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds/ 1 minute
Grate the pears coarsely into a large mixing bowl. Add the oats, seeds, spices and salt and mix well
Add the butter mixture and stir to combine well
Spoon into the prepared tin and press down the mixture, levelling the top with a spoon
Bake for 30 minutes, turning the tin halfway to ensure even browning
Leave to cool in the tin before cutting into 12 slices or squares
