Savoury Marmite Granola

Savoury granola might sound strange, but it's totally delicious and great to sprinkle over salads, on soups, smashed avocado on toast and its a great snack too straight from the jar. It's crunchy, salty with a great umami punch which makes it so moreish!

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Spoon
  • 1 Baking Tray lined with greaseproof paper
  • 1 Fork

Ingredients
  

  • 400 grams tinned chickpeas drained and rinsed
  • 50 grams chia seeds
  • 40 grams flaxseeds ground
  • 30 grams pumpkin seeds
  • 30 grams sunflower seeds
  • 100 ml water
  • 1 tbsp marmite
  • 1 tsp garlic granules
  • salt & pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 180C
  • In a mixing bowl combine chia seeds, ground flaxseeds, water, marmite, garlic granules and salt and pepper to a thick paste
  • Add chickpeas, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. Siri well so everything is coated
  • Tip onto a lined baking tray and lightly crush the chickpeas with a fork so everything sticks together in clumps
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, stirring a couple of times during cooking until golden and crispy. It's important not to remove from the oven until the granola is crispy and well browned
  • Cool completely (it will get a bit crispier as it cools). Tip into an airtight jar to store
